End of 2012 duck hunt Michigan New Years Eve!

Postby Weedwacker » Wed Jan 02, 2013 4:45 pm

Finished the year off with some open water, snow , old buddies and lots of ducks!

My GSP turned 6, and we had the party with big green heads, water temp was 36 and she never quit.

Special 4 day hunt in southern zone of Michigan was right on the mark this year, we shot ducks everyday.

Now back to Illinois and some geese if we are lucky.

I am wondering why michigan has a southern zone open right now and the two northern zones in illinois are closed? Glad you got into them, looks like a good time!!!

They started some years ago opening each zone for a couple days 30 days after the regular season is closed.

The central zone this year had two days a few weeks ago, this is the first year with four days in southern zone.

Kudos to Michigan dnr for trying to give hunters some days late in season when the flights are around. Open water is the key, warm year played in our favor!

wow imagine that, a state that allows its hunters to have success. i went crappie fishing today and smashed em, would of had more if i wasnt for gazing the thousands of mallards that just showed up. same story every year. i love the central zone.

Forgot I took this picture this past weekend, my buddies 11 year old GSP still going strong!

Shot this mergansers for him and sent him only 20 yards but he marked it and brought it back to had!! Swimming all the way to boat.

Note the gray on his face. Great dog, always has been.
