Canvasback

Postby ILgoosehunter12 » Mon Jan 07, 2013 9:46 am

Hey guys, I mount all my own birds. I am the kind of guy that ends up with a freezer full of stuff to mount by the end of duck season! lol. But i have a couple bull canvasback drakes in my freezer that i'd like to mount all together. I am not sure on how i want to do it. Could you all post some pics or some ideas on some good ideas for this mount? Thanks guys!

I would spend more money on a single mount for a really nice bird to get a high quality mount as opposed to multiple lower quality mounts. Just my 2 cents.

To Cougar 125: not the guy who asked the question......the guy who posted the pic of the 3 birds.

Adam the picture of the mount I posted is not my mount. I found it on a internet search and I really dont think it is of low quality as u are refering. No duck I get mounted is of low quality in anyway for I go to the best. In short, u can put your 2 cents back in your pocket. :moon:

I would not call that mount low quality either. Are there better mounts out there? Sure, but most of the time it comes with some damn good photography making it look that much better! This is just my two pennies.

well to start i'll say that i'm not a taxidermist but am skilled in art. Also stop making fun of the "2 cents." I'll give you a straight for it no B.S. opinion on that mount. I think the poses of each is awkward and not flattering to the species of canvasback. If the wings are in the "grey" stage and small why would you bother displaying that......and why would you display the breast area as that is not even the highlight of the bird. Pick one prime bird and mount the one. Yes i definetly believe there are better mounts out there for canvasback. Not trying to insult just give an honest opinion for whomever that mount is for.

I like it. Shows you the back, side, and front views of the same species with three birds, all in one mount.
