I love my Spreader Jerk Rig. It holds 12 ducks on three spreaders. I think I bought it from Mack's for $40 bucks about 5 or six years ago. I had to replace the string once so I used heavier cord.
Use a bungee cord and an anchor or stake - put 2 or 3 decoys on the line.
YES they work. We use bilge pump decoys now but for many, many years we used jerk cords and some days it made the difference between getting a shot or just watching 'em fly by.
Best trip was with a buddy - dad wanted a jerk string so i took out a spool of 50# mono and ran one for dad. My buddy was poking fun - dad jerked it 3 or 4 times and a pintail drake landing right next to the decoy. Made us a believer that day.
