My New Duck Boat

Postby QuackAttack31 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 9:37 am

Finally got a bigger boat to use for duck hunting and fishing. Was using a 1032 jon boat I got from a friend that leaked like crazy and had a trolling motor on it. I went up to Cabelas in Wheeling friday and picked up a new Alumacraft 1442 NCS boat. I had the trailer already, was an old jetski trailer I just had to lengthen the tongue out some, and the 9.8 hp Merc I got from a friend of mine. Didn't take me long to start drilling holes I'm not bashful lol. I bought 2 new seats and pedestal mounts and bases and mounted them on. They worked out good because under the bench and deck is 3/4" plywood worked great to lag bolt the bases too. I also added a 1/2" treated plywood floor with carpet, and mounted my trolling motor to the front. Made I nice lid over the fuel tank too out of a left over peice of the 1/2" plywood and some thin sheet metal. I worked it over and painted to match the boat now I have a full rear deck for fishing and hunting. I still have to get some lights wired in, a bilge pump rigged up, and I need to decide where to mount my battery. Also gonna put a camo paint job on it and make a blind sometime before next falls season. Hopefully gonna add some flotation pods to it as well sometime this summer. I was tryikng to keep it hunter friendly with alot of room but still keep it fishing friendly as well because I love catching me some walleye lol.

I really wanted a 1448 but woulda had to deal with a center bench, but this one is still nice main thing I wanted was to make sure I got a boat with some width to it. This boat is 62" wide across the beam the 1448 woulda been 70" but Cabelas didn't have it anyway.

Good job. Looks like you are ready to hunt. I am gonna start getting a setup ready for next season in the spring. Might have to get some pointers from you guys on what I need.

Make sure you have a small boat or 2 to get in the skinny water.

Slapped on a camo paint job the other day. Mounted some LED lights on the front last night, and hopefully tonight I'll get my battery mounted more permanent and get the lights and trolling motor wired up. Only pic I got so far.

Nice paint work. I have a bass tracker I might paint it like that. How did you make that pattern? What kind of paint?
