I just got a GoPro and really want to get some footage like that. What did you use to film it

I've got a Panasonic Lumix 14 mega pixel digital camera. I've only got a 1gb card, I plan on getting a larger card that supports HD 'cause I can only get around 30min of footage on standard.

It's mounted the barrel on Xtrema just before the mag cap. It's a homemade bracket made from parts off a bicycle light bracket, a bolt that fits the camera tripod hole, a nut, a wing nut, a washer and a hose clamp. Simple and cheap.

I made the thing about 2 years ago but just never used it. I got bored last week and put it on when I was rolling solo then yesterday met up with duck-dawg and used it the whole hunt.

It kinda sucks becasue I have to make sure the camera stays on (without running the battery down) and zoom it in......then press record when I first see the birds. The first video look like I was skyblasting birds at 60 yards but they were about 30 yards away. The video here was about 15 to 30 yards away.

Ive got a few more hunts left this season so we'll see what I can get.

Ive thought about a gopro but I hate the fish eye and you cant zoom it in.

You can get rid of most of the fish eye by using the dive housing. One of my friends who's been using one for years only uses the dive housing because for some reason it pretty much removes the fish eye. I've figured out how to zoom on the editing program and it looks really good.

I'd love to see some footage with the dive housing. How close can you zoom? I'm still up the air about getting one, I might get one before next season.

That was fun to watch while waiting on legal. Nice footage!

Hunt with my GoPro in it's Dive housing which I mainly got for ... yup.. diving... spearfishing and whatnot... however the dive housing is great for duck hunting too.. it does get rid of a lot of the fish-eye because it's a flat viewing port. The standard housing has a convex viewing port which gives really awesome views for close-ups but objects appear exponentially further out when the distance is increased.

There is NO ZOOM on the GoPro... with the dive/flat housing... things appear similar to slightly further away than how they appear to the naked eye. However, if you have software that can zoom in on video, the quality of the GoPro's video will allow you to do this without affecting the crispness of the video...

hope that helps...

That's what I mean. You zoom using most softwares during the editing process after filming. I'm still debating on which software to purchase because the GoPro software isn't good for anything beyond basic editing

I watched that video at least 25 times and then I went and cooked ducks. Awesome video.
