We had the same situation and we just dammed up where it drained out. It was the start to an old pond that was started to be built in the middle of a low area that was wet about 20 yeards ago. It dries out in the summer and with a little work we expanded We have no water source and it fills up easily now every fall. Usually by october season we are full. The water level fluctuates some but it has been pretty succesful so far. Stop the water from draining and you should be fine to hold some water in the low spot without any water source.
some pictures of it dry:
The area without much vegetation is the lowest spot on the site and doesnt dry up till mid to late summerif at all. The grassy area to the left is a higher moist soil area. The lowest spot has 2 feet of water in it in the winter and the moist soil to the left has 6 inches.
views of the corn adjoining the natural areas. Lots of different types of food for the ducks in there.
Here is the ling to a previous post of it flooded in mid september - http://www.duckhuntingchat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=199855
This is our first hunt from last year. Even a 2.5 acre hole can produce ducks!!!
