Beach Fork Lake near Huntington, WV?

Postby Z.herndon » Fri Jan 25, 2013 10:23 am

Has anyone hunted this lake before and if so how was it? I know there are restrictions on motor size on the lake and I always see a bunch of mallards at the marina. So I am just trying to see if the lake would be worth hunting? Thanks

Trying to plan something for the week in november. Drive by the marina and saw lots of geese and ducks hanging out.

Check the park boundaries first before you go, just saying

Yeah, we got a map of where hunting is permitted and not. Then compared it to a satellite map and picked a few spots today just scouting around the lake. Saw some woodies, mallards and geese moving around and feeding. Ill post some pics and report after we go.

Did pretty good. Got a handful of mallards but mostly practice calling them in. Boundaries aren't that bad, basically camp ground, marina and swimming area. Make sure to bring a lot of cover cause the trees are bare and the lake is draining. Loads of public areas to hunt deer, turkey's and doves I didn't realize it till after mapping it.
