Who's got the itch?

Postby Silverwidgeon » Wed Feb 20, 2013 2:13 am

Duck season is over... Who's ready for turkey? anyone scouting yet? who's got pics??? I've got a butt load of work but it should finish up right for the start of season, so i'm stoked.

I have a new spot picked out for this season. Lots of birds and no one else will be hunting it.

I saw 6 longbeards strutting around a hen this morning. There were atleast 25 turkeys in the feild at one time. I have been thinking about them all day. Still have almost two months before the season opens. :fingerhead:

We still have some goose and small game season to go, but once that's over, I go into turkey mode hard core. Well...that and spring steelhead fishing. Get up at 4:00 am, hunt till noon, out of the woods by one. Catch a nap and go hit the tribs in the afternoon. Makes for good times...TIRED...but fun none the less.

The itch never goes away for me. I shot my two this fall, one of them at less that 5 yds, and haven't been able to get my mind off of it. I've got a few properties in western Nebraska that are loaded with birds and have yet to hunt them in the spring. There is a 60+ bird flock with some huge toms that I hunt that stays in the same 10 acre patch of trees in the middle of nowhere that needs to be thinned out

Crap last time i looked for the spring regs here is washington the wildlife dept hadnt even put them on the net....I hope we get a spring season!!!! A whole lot of scouting will be for nothing if they dont give us an opening date soon. We usually start around the 2nd week of april though. God Im sick of waiting for mid april!!!! lol

We do not open up until May 1st and I am dying to get out,but tomorrow is the opener for spring snow goose,so I guess that will have to hold me over until then! But between now and then I am scouting turkeys and snows! But we got 3-6 " of fresh snow yesterday and I went out scouting the farm and spotted some birds out in the cut corn field, here is alittle footage to get you going for turkey hunting!
