Is there any hunting to be had here?

Hi y'all.

I moved here last year, and after a year of no hunting, I'm getting itchy. Is there any good public land/water near the Phoenix area? I need to get out!

First off welcome :welcome: . Most of the state is public land so there are plenty of places to hunt. Close to town meaning what. There are only a few places that can be hunted in the morning and back to work early. Do some driving around areas with water. as in lakes and rivers. There there. It just takes a bunch of walking and driving.

Welcome again, and let us know what type of equipment you have that may help pointing you in a direction.
Have you ever woke up one day and said. Damn when does the season start.

I've just got my guns with me, a Charles Daly 12 ga. and an Ithaca Model 37 12. But, I'm willing to pick up what i need to get by, especially since the Cabela's just opened, and the Sportsmen's Warehouses are everywhere down here.

Most desert duck hunters are pretty tight lipped with regards to hunting spots since we have a lot of hunters and not a lot of water. The best way is to meet people and tag along. Check out some of the arizona hunting/fishing boards and network. Also check out the arizona audubon society web page. it is amazing where the bird watchers find birds. Granted they hate us but they are willing to tell each other where the birds are. AZGFD.gov has some good info on it. Good luck

I may be able to arrange that. I hunt some places that are more popular. I won't give you my honeyholes tho.
