So the list on page one is the order in which we hunt with it and now long will it get to hunt with each hunter ? Sorry to have to ask but I didn't read the traveling decoy threads last year . I have a lot of black duck holes to pitch one of them into
The way it normally works is that once the season dates come out, the person running the scheduling will put up a list for each weekend during the season. If you want to maximize time over the decoy, you start it during the September teal season. So if you go by last years seasons, you would have 14 weekends to hunt over the decoy, which would mean 14 hunters could sign up. If you want more than that to hunt over the decoy, you try to get the guys close to each other to pair up for a hunt, which i did with callncut 2 seasons ago with the Atlantic Rambler.
Now, as far as who gets what weekend, the scheduler should post up each weekend date and allow those that signed up to pick the best weekend. You might have to do some shuffling around and compromising as well. It can be a pain...trust me...if you don't get a headache at least one time during the scheduling then something is not right.
The biggest thing as well is to make sure you guys set a day during the week that the decoy must be shipped off by and stick with it. Nothing worse than being scheduled to hunt over a Traveler, and it doesn't show up in time for your hunt on Friday or Saturday, had that happen to me before too. Since it is staying within the state, i would say ship it off each Tuesday, and expect to hunt over it by Thursday.
Overall, it is not that difficult. Once the list of dates go up, pick your day. If something comes up, see if you can switch with someone else. It can go smooth and be a lot of fun.
