Wondering if anyone has any info on hunting the rock around castle rock/oregon area? Is it any good, I've got a boat blind for next season and hoping to hit the rock.

First and foremost you need to check with IL DNR for all rules a regs in your area whether its on the website or your local officer. Second get a plat book for the area you plan to hunt. You never know what sloughs or shoreline your tied up to is private. The third one ill be nice about, SCOUT, no one will tell you which areas are good or not, you need to put the time in.

If you go drive around be careful cause the rock river by me is shallow usually and has to s of u der water snags and rocks. Just take your time go slow and check water depths with oar so you know what you got . Trust me I've ran the part by me for yrs and I shelled my prop running same spot I always do

Yep. Towed a teal hunter in about 10 years ago with a broken lower unit. It was his first trip to Potters Marsh. Those were some pretty expensive teal.

Those guys must have really NOT known where to go over there.. You can tear your equipment up anywhere you go though.. I'll take the mostly muddy bottom over nothing but rocks any day for hunting!!! The rock is probably the most inconsistant place i've ever hunted. More lack of ducks than anything. Ususally has some geese around though. Plus it's kind of discouraging because there could be birds around but you may never see them because your line of sight is pretty short in most places down there so you think theres nothing around. Not to mention the strong current makes things dangerous as well..
