Not unless you have a pistol permit, if the bill passes.

ANY ammo

Ammunition: The bill establishes a new revocable state issued “ammunition eligibility certificate”, which will require the applicant to pass a national criminal background check. The bill requires, as of October 1, 2013, that any sale of ammunition or an ammunition magazine to a Connecticut resident be accompanied by the presentation of either a permit to carry a pistol or revolver, an eligibility certificate for a pistol or revolver, a long gun eligibility certificate, a firearms dealer permit, or a combination of an ammunition eligibility certificate and a state issued photo ID. Therefore, as of October 1, 2013 there will be no legal sales of ammunition or magazines to any Connecticut resident who has not passed a national criminal background check, and is in good standing with regard to such check (i.e. their state issued certificate has not been revoked).

For anybody who can get out of work for a few hours to go to the LOB in Hartford, there will be free shuttle buses running from Cabelas to the Capital from mid morning until 5. :violin:

" a long gun eligibility certificate? "

Is this the firearms safety certification?

No SBE....NOT the certificate for your hunter safety class

Not that easy Northern Pride.... You are looking at an FBI backround check...for a fee...fingerprinting...for a fee... a permit....for a fee....a 3-6 month wait to get your permit....just to buy ammo. Want that new shotgun? Add in a special firearms training class....for a fee...AND all of the above.

The training class....does not exist.....yet
Fingerprinting.....by appointment at your local PD....by appointment....during the day....having to take time from work....
Backround checks are already way behind these days with the pistol permit applications....add in tens of thousands of hunters and shooters who don't have pistol permits and the wait will just be months and months.

These politicians have no clue to the administrative quagmire they are creating. Or the civil disobedience and instant creation of felons that will come out of this.

But they "have to do something"

JimG: I haven't seen anything that mentions non residents. Is ammo buying not possible after Oct. 1 for us? (Mass. residents)

I don't know Tool.... I would imagine that if you have a CT pistol permit you are good to go, even if a non-resident. The bill is 135 pages or so, I haven't read the final version yet, and only breezed thru the 96 page draft.

I've read it all and I only saw you needed one of the various permits or eligibility certs, so if a non resident has one of those you are ok.
