I think it would be appropriate to describe Tom as a Gentleman of Grace.

I would have to agree. Nothing but an all around smooth experience and it was a pleasure talking to him.

Anyone out there got any ideas on grassing this thing up? I've got several bundles of Avery grass (all terrain and smart weed) which would probably appropriate for most of the places I will hunt. Coult was mentioning that the Avery stuff can be a pain, which makes sense. I think he was going with grass mats....

Any suggestions and I am all ears!

Thanks again

I haven't grasses mine up yet but I'm gonna try the Avery stuff along with some raffia. The grass mats do sound pretty simple and user friendly. Keep us updated.

I used Avery killer weed last season. Probes I had were the grass coming off in the water and finding the prop of whatever motor I was running. Looks good but is a pain in the long run. Also by end if the season was very flat with no dimension.Image

This is what I used as a guide on grassing my refuge runner. I prefer the look of raffia. This way take a lot of time and raffia but it blends in great. I think I used about 18lbs. I got a great deal on the raffia last year, it was $5.99 per 2lb bundle at Rogers. You might call Rogers and check if they're gonna do it this year, it was an in store only deal last year.

I have been looking into this boat very seriously. Is it possible to hunt two people out of this boat safely?

I love my Momarsh fatboy DP but after seeing the EBADS I think it would be more suited for what I do which is run rivers to access backwater areas. I do that with the Momarsh but I have to be pretty picky about where and when I take it, if it's big water and big wind I do something else.

Yes I agree Momarsh is a great boat but has its limitations. That is why I got an ebads I run river to back water just like u said and it works perfect

For the original poster I would make this suggestion. If you are going to get an EBADS I would get a thirteen h.p. motor. I fear you may feel underpowered with the load you described. I ran an EBADS last year with a 7hp and it was ok, but....there will be a 13 on it this year. Overall it's a great boat and Tom is a good guy to deal with for sure.

A 13HP huh? I haven't ordered my motor yet, so that's still up in the air. Other than the occasional pull (sled of decoys or another layout), I cannot really think of a situation where I would need that much 'giddy-up'. Maybe getting out on the river more HP would be nice, but I have a 9.9HP I would use for that.

bill, what types of situations did you run your setup and need more HP? Is there anything I might be not considering or that I should be mindful of when choosing engine size?

Thanks

Here is a video link to the 2 guys in the EBADS. You have to decide if it is right for you to hunt 2 guys. Might work but might also get uncomfortable as well.

A couple weeks ago I got my first mud motor. Got the 10hp long tail from backwaters inc. Love it!!! Ran a 9.9 merc last year. Both are great. Big water the 9.9 is fast and smooth. But I run to much shallow water. So the Lt is much better. Now its Lt for duck season and the 9.9 for summer fishing.

Yeah, that sled is enormous and built like a brick house. I thought abt getting one, but probably would only use a few times a year.

I might shoot you an email or two about grassing the boat up.
