Beautiful Speck!

I shot one on the Yellowstone the first year I started hunting waterfowl. Had no idea what it was until I got home and looked in a book  It came in with some Canadas, just looked different than the rest so I shot it... Thankfully it was ok, but I decided I better not do that anymore.

I have shot a few in Nor Cal, but that seems like a VERY large spec!

Very cool. We shoot specks in the Klamath Basin in Southern Oregon every year but have never seen a one in the Idaho Panhandle until last year. A bud and I were on a field hunt and the first group of birds that came into the spread was a flock of specks. Talk about doing a double-take! First and only specks I have seen in 14 years in North Idaho.

Nice bird you have there. Congratulations.

We got into a small flock and ended up shooting 6 or 7 between the 3 of us. This was my best by far outa the 3 I got. The other adult was ok and my 3rd was a juvi. Great eating birds I gotta say.

"Rib Eye of the Sky" they say.

The juvies are pretty susceptible when flying alone. If you can't call in a juvie speck something is wrong.
