Remington

Postby dmart56 » Tue Jun 18, 2013 6:00 pm

I am looking to get a Remington 12 gauge for duck hunting. What is a better choice the 1100 or 1187? Other Remington shotguns you strongly advise I'd like to hear.

Thanks

Keep the 1100 clean and it will not let you down. Own eight of them in different gauges and makes and they are my favorites.

The 11-87 is a better all around hunting gun. I have hunted with a 11-87 SP MAG since 1988. I would suggest you find a gun made in the nineties with a light contour barrel. It will shoot EVERYTHING from dove loads to the heaviest 3" waterfowl loads.

Always shot 1100's growing up and they are great guns and will never fail. My dad bought an 11-87 Premier with the light contour barrel from Walmart in the 90's. You are right, that gun will shoot anything and never fail. I have only heard negative things about the newer 11-87's but the older ones are workhorses.

Either model in 3" will serve you well.
Avoid the 3.5" 11-87.
