Support Funding to Restore the Upper Mississippi
In March, the President recommended that Congress provide $31.968 million for Upper Mississippi River Restoration in FY 2014, in order to improve water quality, fish and wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities. This week, the House and Senate are considering the President's Request.
Your Senator, Tom Harkin, is on the Senate Appropriations Committee voting this week on funding for the Upper Mississippi River basin. Please call Senator Harkin today and tell him:
I support Upper Mississippi River Restoration! Please appropriate $31.968 million for the program, as recommended by President Obama. This funding will advance critical restoration projects and essential scientific research that will improve water quality, fish and wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities on the Upper Mississippi River and improve our understanding and management of the river and its ecosystem.
