2013 Flight

Postby 3for3 » Thu Jul 04, 2013 7:16 pm

I noticed in Ducks Unlimited that the conditions this May where mostly 'Fair' in the North Atlantic flyway. That doesn't seem all that great to me. Does anyone know what kind of numbers are being predicted for Fall duck flight this year. I think we were at 48 million last year for North America, a new record. I was hoping we could meet or exceed that this year, but with the May pond conditions I'm not so sure.

Most of the spring survey was done while we were still way behind in rain. Now we have water everywhere. If they weren't successful initially, I bet renesting was great. Water everywhere.

You are right. That's the catch 22.

Cold spring rain can kill small ducks... But we need water to raise ducks.
