If you know where to go I will make time to go with you. I've been wanting to go goose hunting for a long, long time. I'm not too bad with my short reed and I've got a doz. silo's and 4 floaters. I just can't ever seem to be in the right place at the right time for geese.

Well the wife has a job interview in town so I'll stop by the game and fish and have a chat with them, mainly so I can get a bearing on where everything is and where I can and can't hunt. I love seeing new places with the military but everytime I move I have to learn all new rules and new places to hunt........life is bad

YESSSSSS I'M DIFFENTALLY DOWN.....umm i mean sure I'd love come and help set up a spread.

I've been talking with the game and fish today about places to hunt and they've been giving me the normal military personal run around. They did tell me some places to check out but I could tell they were holding back "the good spots".

Stouff tell the farmer that well help out around the farm if he hooks us up!

I had vehikle problems today, and was too distracted and forgot to kall the farmer.......

BUT I will call him first thing tomarrow. Heres the deal tho, The farmer seems to be very religious and does not want people to hunt on his land on sunday. SO, If he does say yes, the trip would be head up friday afternoon, set up camp, dekoys, then git up in the mornin, hunt, clean up and come back that early afternoon......

So its not exactly a long trip, but i hear the geese are really starting to come down.

I have access to about 4 dozen really old silos, but they dont look too bad when they are all grouped up.

I will post up and contact both of you when I come home tomarrow to let you know whats up :salude:

Just dont want there to be any suprises on what to expect.......

So I found a couple of the pictures I took last time I was there.

Image

Image

Its like a grassy pasture, w/ some taller grass patched throughout. (Thats where we hid last time).

I wish I had a layout blind, but being as cheep as I am, we just layed on our sleeping pads and threw some burlap and camo over ourselves last time.

We didnt get anything, but there was nothing flying....... UNTILL we started to pik up the dekoys and my gun was already in the truk, then they flew overtop of us so low I kudda threw a rock at em!! :hammering:

Lol, so I think it is a good area, we just will have to have luck on ourside as far as the gesse being in the area.

Brett, Ben.... can either one of you call? I can a lil...... but not anything special.

Ok, enuf for tonight, Ill let ya know what the good news is marrow afternoon!

Can Otterbfishing and I join up? I have plans to run with Otterbfishing out to the lakes on saturday morning, but we could be done out there by mid day when the birds stop flying. We could come by and check out the goose hunting show.

I have a dozen outlaw sillies to add to the decoy mix. I also have some real ugly foam shells.

I have never been goose hunting so it would be cool to see what happens.

Shure I dont see why not. But you say you will be hunting else where on Sat morning? This is most likely going to be a sat morning trip as the owner doesn not want any hunting on Sunday. But feel free to give us a call when you wanna come up. Ill post more on that tonight

Stouff, Jesse and I will be going out to Swan Lake on Saturday morning. The action typically stops by 11am unless there are a lot of birds around. So we could come over to the farm Saturday afternoon unless Jesse has someplace he has to be back north.

I'll be pulling my boat which I don't like dragging on long trips up gravel roads so I may drop it someplace or ride with Jesse and leave mine parked in Palmer/Wassilla.

I am taking tomorrow off to go out and get some hunting in before I leave town next week. I'll check things on here later tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

All,
Sounds great to me! I've got 3 silouettes to add to the bunch.
Ray, no problem with parking your rig and riding with me. We'll get the evening shoot on Geese! Pack a big lunch.
Just to make sure where we're meeting Sat AM; the 'Y' you mentioned is the one off the Glen that goes into Palmer past the Fairgrounds, right?

I know that might sound complecated..... But its not. Its a small area. And if you do get lost w/ my directions, call me at 727-8819, or my other buddy (if you cant get a hold of me) at 351-7318.

Hope to see you guys tomarrow!!!

Ray, otter........ I am not exactly shure when I will be leaving. I dont plan on staying the whole day, I might leave at noon or so... depends how everything is goin. I hope I git to see ya, but I cant say for shure. But LA and Brett may be staying later.. Ill let you guys work that out.

Dont hesitate to call my cell if you need anything!!

Stouff , AKRedneck, AKBrett,
AKRay & I did not make it out to the goose fields, but we did have a fun morning in Ray's fine, stable duckboat. We had it loaded heavy with us, all our gear, big bag of dekes, and a young restless Lab. The boat was rock solid through many different water and wind conditions and was a blast to ride in.

We got a few ducks and had a chance for more training for Tula, the lab. She did pretty good . If she could see the duck. or smell it she was on it fast. If she didn't see the bird it was a little tougher to get her going in the right direction. She just needs to hunt and mature a little more.

Ray called Brett on the cell phone when we got back into Wasilla around noon(?), but it sounded like not much was going on and you all were picking up the dekes and trucking out. It was raining pretty hard by then, and without the prospect of geese flying we dicided to bag it.

Be fun to get together with all of you sometime for geese or ducks.
