I find it a little surprising you don't take the Dems to task any, as they are indeed dog crap pile # 2.....WOULDN'T YOU AGREE????

What would be the point. If there was a legitimate complaint aired we'd just get affirmations that include demands about birth certificates, vacation costs and manufactured scandal. Then all the low information GOP lovers would just hop around and then the original point would get lost in a big giant cercle secousse.

I think the 2 of you just like pushing the right wing buttons because its sooooo easy.

Nope. We don't even have to push buttons to raise the froth level. It's a natural outcome for foam to fly from foam flecked lips.

Can I count on both of you to move to the LP in the future?

Libertarianism is a political stance and set of beliefs. They don't translate to joining a party and doing what all the other libertarians are doing. I've been living as a libertarian for longer than most, but I'll never sign a pledge to join that party.

I've already pledged myself to our flag - and that comes first.

Besides, most of the folks that say they are Libertarians aren't in the party either. They're just GOP folks that fled that party so they wouldn't get made fun of at dinner parties. LINOs through and through.
All this for a bowl of borscht.

Absolute truth. The only other perspective that I have of the Libertarian Party is that they are akin to a Hollywood production party, all sitting around a large table deciding how to make this novel a screenplay......"Well, we know the audience likes car chases and wrecks, so we need at least three of them"......."Well of course Felix, but there are plenty that want a relationship, too. We have to bring the women in". "What's that Bruce?"... "I was just saying that you can't have a relationship on screen without contentiousness.....the audience has to feel that restrained sexual tension." ...."Good point, Bruce, you and Angelie will hate each other's foibles until the end, when the adversary is gone and one or the other of you will acquiesce to a point made earlier in the film that infuriated and confounded the other." "Yeah, exactly". "Now all we need is a little political contemporary drama, a President that is one form or another of a minority......Hey....would it work to have an extraterrestrial President?" "Nah, jeez man, what do you want this to be, a John Travolta/L Ron Hubbard bomb?" "No, you're right......let's keep it a sweet but strong woman, a flawed, temporarily mentally unstable but ultimately strong man, a completely ludicrous but entertaining series of action moves, with one actor portraying the sensible guy expressing incredulity at the brazen recklessness and troubled personal life of the other actor, the troubled one having a tough time with his ex but a contentious yet loving relationship with his daughter who will eventually figure into the movie enabling the protagonist to reveal his real weakness when he addresses his real feelings about his daughter.........."
Thus........the Libertarian Party sitting around the table deciding what it takes to appeal to the American people. "We have been making strides. What steps and platforms do we need to address to place us in the position of power........?"

What I don't get is why everybody isn't ashamed to be affiliated with politicians. Libertarians like to believe they are above it which means they will never change anything. If you want to change things, you have to get involved with the whores and thieves and not just sit back and point out the obvious.

If the Democrats would be ashamed of the disaster that Democrats have brought over history, there would be hope. The party of slavery, segregation, and now urban decay. What good have they ever brought? The Republicans are like a fungus. Democrats are like cancer.

I was there almost 20 years ago and the LP is exactly where it was 20 years ago and exactly where it will probably be 20 years in the future. Even the socialists have a U.S. Senator. The Tea Party has already far surpassed the LP. The libertarian philosophy is a great thing for this country. The LP is worthless. What have they accomplished that makes them the best?

Liberals think that caring makes them superior and that is all that matters even if the results on the ground are destructive.

Libertarians think that their academic theories make them superior and that is all that matters even if those ideas never get off of the white board.

I think results are the only thing that matters when it comes to government and politics as long as basic rights are protected.

The LP is the embodiment of the warning of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good with the real world results that evil triumphs will the good men of the LP do nothing in practice.

Rat Creek wrote:Two things.

First, liberals struggle mightily with the concept that conservatives are conservative first and party affiliation is really unimportant. Liberals see Ds in the voting booth and instinctively just push them all. It is why we have the mess we have. Candidates like Wiener, Obama, Waters, Jackson Jr. and on and on and on, win seats by having a D by their name, regardless how foolish, inexperienced or idiotic they are. Think of the guy who thought Guam would tip over. Pretty sure he wins in a landslide and you will not hear a useful idiot call him out as a fool. You do not see conservatives bending and twisting to defend idiots like McCain. I never hear liberals calling out idiot democrats. Granted that is a tall order, but it does not happen. Just last night, I heard a useful idiot talking head defending Wiener. That because of his position on gay and women's issues, that we should back him and not pay attention to his bizarre and depraved behavior. Welcome to the modern liberal democrat party.

Second, while I am sure there are a few conservatives out there who like McCain, I have yet to meet one. He and his band of RINOs really need to just join the democrat party. They would be most at home there. Liberals always seem to think that just because McCain has an R by his name, that conservatives like him. Wow, you could not be more wrong on that. Libs should just consider him a democrat and it will all make more sense.

Ya know, RC, I think you'd be surprised to know that I agree with about 99.9% of that!

You confuse taking people's money in the form of taxes and giving it to others with charity. It's not that Libertarians don't favor charity, it's that liberals don't actually know what charity is. What you believe is charity is nothing more than an expression of laziness.

I didn't think of it that way, Scaup, but you're right. With just a few exceptions it was a pretty dismal year! The club sucked like a Hoover, but I got a #1 draw at probably the best refuge in the No CA system the day after it had been flooded out for a couple of weeks! It was like hunting in the Closed Zone! You're not that far away, Scaup. Ever end up this direction during the season PM me and I'll set sumpin' up!

I am guessing BDD2 would not have a good hunt. He would be mad I was hogging calling all the shots. He would be incensed that I would not care how he or the ducks felt about that too. Toss in no beer or drugs in the boat, and the heaters and comfortable seats still wouldn't make it worth him coming on the trip. :lol3:

If you want to make the run up my way, I can put you up and show you Widgeon, Pintail, and Blue Bill in the thousands on any given day. The lower Columbia is a spectacular hunting area all season. I hunt a lot of three day weekends.

That is a gorgeous area...went sturgeon fishing out that way once while my then girlfriend was working out of Puyallup. The Columbia is an awesome waterway.
