SCAUP LIMITS?

Postby Paul26 » Tue Jul 23, 2013 7:13 pm

Someone on the NC site showed the link to New York state's proposed scaup limit. They are at 4, but I think this is before they saw the USFW's annual survey numbers.

Any other states have a proposed number yet?

If I were a betting man, I think they might be going back down after that beating they took with a 4 duck limit. We wore em out daily in January here in SC.

We were busting 7 a day per person on the left coast. I am hoping the limit stays there. We had a long spectacular diver season!

Looks like Washington has proposed 7 as of June 19th.

Why is the season longer on the west coast? And why is there a different proposed limit on scaup in the PAC Flyway than the ATL Flyway?

Because they are different populations of birds, and the west coast population can sustain higher harvest numbers.

I literally cried my self to sleep when the proposals were posted. I'm going to be living on the east killing cans and passing on BB.

The mental image of you crying yourself to sleep (in BBBD's daughter's little shorty twin bed) had me laughing for 10 minutes!

Two cans is gonna make a few extra trips east pop up in my duck hunting future. I have a place to stay and know plenty of good spots to hunt on that side of the mountains.

I know it's not all about me but I am kind of bummed 95% of the divers on Green Bay Are BlueBills we get other stuff but definitely after my three bills this year it will be a birdwatching expedition. 2 cans doesn't help me much either I only got 2 all last season. My hunting buddy reminded me of the season a few years ago when it was one Bluebill a day that's hardly worth setting out hundred decoys. Last year they weren't even very many Buffelhead's we had a very good flight of goldeneyes later on though.

Looks like we are back to three bluebills this year in Utah too. The two can limit will be nice though. I can't remember the last time it was two.
