New waterfowl gadgets are out.

Postby h2ofowlr » Fri Jul 26, 2013 9:31 am

I went into Cabela's on Tuesday and they were setting up the waterfowl department. Plenty of new stuff to check out. I was looking at the Tanglefree brant decoys. Unfortunately a lot of money for a short 8 day season. We converted our standard floaters to brant.

I saw those too, looked like they only had 1 box of them when I was there. The tanglefree surf scoters looked pretty good as well.

Looks like they were in the middle of overhauling the waterfowl section when I was there. Hopefully, I can make it back over to check it out once it's done.

Nice to see they are starting to get some variety in there, last year it seemed to be pretty sparse unless you wanted to buy AvianX goose decoys or Bigfoots. They have cases and cases of those.

I have half a dozen of those Tanglefree Foam Filled Surf Scoter (thanks to JGoetz  ) and they are really awesome. Durable as heck and look really good on the long lines. The pulled in a few Scoter for me last season including a rare Washington common Scoter.

I am glad the Waterfowl Displays are finally getting updated in there.... Seems like all the stores are behind (or just not as early as they have been in the past) in the waterfowl depts.

I am going down to the Tulalip store today. I am hoping they have a bunch of stuff out. It is curious that they no longer carry GHG stuff.

I will keep my eyes open for Yeager's tent sale again this year. They cleaned house on decoys last year. All tanglefree but I picked up 3 boxes of wigeon for $14 bucks a box and Shade's Scoters for like $22 bucks.

What was the price on those H20? I saw those new on Tanglefree's website a few months back, look really good but the price tag is crazy for our short WA seasons.

This makes me want to buy Avery more than ever. I am going to ask my Cabelas where the Avery stuff is.

I am sorry, did someone say there is a Cabela's in Washington? :lol3:

Overpriced and to far to be worth bothering to drive.

With the ridiculous prices on decoys I am making my own! Tougher, better paint jobs ( last ), and unsinkable.

Sounds like a challenge I'm willing to accept! :grooving:

Any one you are ready. Come on over and we will set one away from the rest and let you unload as many shells as you like on it.

Truthfully, I'm not much of a decoy shooter but I'd be happy to shoot some ducks over them. Once I get it all figured out here, I'll invite you over to shoot some divers, puddlers or geese
