In case of any recoil questions, I just got back from shooting a few clays. My wife got a new a400 a couple days ago so she had to get out and shoot it. I took my sx3 along with the 11-87 and had her compare felt recoil to her among the three. The a400 is cast off and drop is fitted to her. My sx3 is cast on and lengthened to fit me and the 11-87 is natural cast. She is 5'7" and a buck twenty. To her the felt recoil was similar between the sx3 and 11-87 with the 400 feeling like it kicked harder. She said the 400 was sharper and the other two were longer and felt softer. I thought the same when I shot her a400. Non of them bothered her shooting but she could feel the difference in them.
Just in case the helps ya any in your decision.

I know the A400 and Sx3 hit harder thane what my Versa max hits. My wife shoots my Versa max, but its to heavy for her. Right now I have her shooting my 870 20 gauge 28" with 3" black clouds (junk ammo). The gun she started off shooting was a stoeger side by side. So she knows the difference of recoil! She didn't even ask for a new gun. She like my 870, but I'd prefer getting her a gun for herself (also my collection grows)
