2013 shaping up to be good ?

Postby Jerbo » Fri Aug 09, 2013 4:58 pm

It's Aug. 9th and 74 degrees this evening, crops are looking great and the marshes are filling up. I'm thinking it's going to be a great year for ducks and I'm hoping it freezes up early and the rivers and field hunting gets good like it was in 06 and 07. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Too unpredictable. I too would not mind an early freeze up. Gets the fair-weather hunters to stay at home.

I liked 2000 walking on the ice before thanksgiving now that was a fun year esspecially when I went to a southern state for a while! Front bucket on the big tractor had a new use!

good duck numbers and good production out of the MS flyway and dakotas is a good thing. to me, weather during the season has the most impact on our success and it's too early to tell.

we don't have crops at our place b/c of the flooding, but we've had good years with local plants and moist soil. we shall see how the year goes, but i am thinking it will be a good one

The flooding over the last week in my area has put a damper on my seasons outlook. Local ca is completely underwater with nothing but the large willow trees exposed in the pools.

Its shaping up to be a late start!!! Late crops.. means late combine.. They probably wont start cutting corn till Oct 1 around here!!!!! Beans even later Might still be combining beans around thanksgiving Going to be a late start around here

And that goes for Grand Pass too... They are just now spraying down there when they should be getting the combines lined up! everything 1.5 months behind!!

Going to be a great year just like '73....love the eagerness folks but it's a way early...waterfowl migration may be instinctual but waterfowl hunting depends on a myriad of factors....prepare for a great season attitudinally...especially you Swampckn.

Just through grand pass. They were spraying alright but the food plots weren't but 4 foot tall I don't know what they were doin. Very late getting it in the ground.ANd I think all spots should be first come first serve no camping in the parking lot.Even though I got drawn 3 times last 2 years.

Duck season is going to be terrible because the duck parks don't have fully grown corn!!! AAAAHHHHHH!!!! What will we ever do!?!?!? Some of the logic in this thread is hilarious! :lol3: :lol3: :lol3:
