Few things

Postby NativeGaelGunna » Tue Aug 13, 2013 3:54 pm

If you were planning your second consecutive summer job for the forest service and you wanted to do it out West what state would you consider?

anyone ever been bear hunting with dogs? I like the idea but the guy I work with who said he'd take me also likes to brag about some not so sportsman like methods aka ground bait, single shot dirt road shooter, and such another oh and high powered rifles.

I'm planning on setting up my tree stand after a mountain squirrel hunt and going from there. seen tons of bear up here at Moomaw this summer and grouse and heard coyotes but no bobcats. anyone ever shot a bear with a bow?

How talls the marsh? The walnut trees are already turning yellow

Phil I figured you better

so who has bear, grouse, bobcat, turkey hunted in the mountains? The deer up here all seem to be all does and used to people and vehicles even bush hogs. this years super early season opener native trifecta-- Fox Squirrel, Goose, Dove.

How east does the native Virginia mountain grouse travel and do they ever migrate or fly away from bad weather?

High powered rifles are unsportsman? Dead is dead no matter the tool.

Def considering those two states
I've shot a deer with an open sight muzzleloader my buddy loaded and showed me the safety so ya I agree they kill em, but shooting a big buck or bear on another ridge that avoided yours or your holler and is a couple hundred yards away doesn't seem as exciting to me. Kinda like on tv when guys shoot mountain rams from a mile a way. but I guess if you are a true riflemen its sportsmen like so ya I have to agree with you again dang.
