A gold mine!! That appears to be red-rooted sedge, one of the most desirable annual sedges you will find. Doesn't produce a "nut" like yellow nut grass, rather throws a heck of a lot of seed. Ducks love it. I've put a link to some info on it below. Yours is maturing nicely.
