Super excited - after last season, it can only get better.

Quick question, my wife and I are going up to the Minocqua/Woodruff area for labor day weekend. Are there any geese coming in yet?

I'm trying to decide if it would be worth bringing any gear and talking the wife into letting me go hunting sunday morning...

Some locals but that's about it. Tell her you're going anyway just to get away from all the people!

Up at 3 this morning to make the hour drive to my spot. Put the boat in drove out and pulled around to find a metric butt load of geese sitting where I wanted to hunt. Yesterday they were further down in the bay. Realized quickly I wasn't going to be able to set decoys....

Decided to try pass shooting and hope they came out of the bay to me. Worked out well. Took 4 before 615 and decided that it wasn't worth setting decoys for one more after that. Home by 8.

Knocked one down this morning but the cattails ate it. Lots of ducks tho and nothing beats a sunrise on the marsh.

In an effort to not differentiate between myself and when people tag along it's now going to be "team thunder" (considering my boat is the ThunderSmelt)

Team Thunder took one bird today. Managed to set up where we wanted to this morning and had two birds come in and land just on the other side of the point for the bay we were in. One of the team went and trudged up to the point and waited. A little calling and what do you know? They come swimming around the point and boom*6 one bird down.

Lots of birds in the area, but few were seen after we watched them all leave from their respective roosts.
