Jet on the Platte?

Postby Gamecock » Tue Aug 27, 2013 5:10 pm

I'm moving to nebraska from Alaska in a few weeks and was trying to get some information on if anyone has seen or heard of anyone running a jet lower unit on the platte river. I have a boat and a 40 hp yamaha with the jet foot.

Platte is pure sand and shallow. Also all private land. In Nebraska, the landowner owns the river bottom to the center line of the main channel. Technically, you can boat the Platte, but nobody does because you cannot launch or land without trespassing. This is the situation W. of Grand Island, now sure if things change East of there. If you came buzzing up the Platte with your jet jon boat during duck season, you would have a bunch of fighting mad guys on your hands.

Missouri is same rules on Nebraska side, Iowa and Missouri sides are different, but you have to buy out of state tags.

Lol, I did all of this same research last year when I got stationed at Offutt. Hence the reason I just joined a duck club on the Platte. Money well spent, 750 a year for year round access to 175 acres and a mile of river frontage.

Is that 750 also for deer, Turkey, fishing ect...I was looking into one that was 1340 and everything was included along several properties along the eastern edge and platte areas, but still doing my homework

That's a lot more wallet friendly than what I've found so far. But I've only known for a week that I was coming that way. A lot more homework to be done but wanna thank you for the help thus far. Maybe we'll meet up and sit on a spread one day
