Baikal 12 ga semi-auto so far!!!

Postby Flyguy427 » Sat Sep 07, 2013 6:44 am

I just got a baikal Russian made semi auto a few months back for next to nothing price $200 with 5 chokes all tools and manuals. So far I have set the piston to semi heavy load and have shot 2 3/4 #6 shot all the way to 3" BB and no problems so far with cycling and function! I am not going to pamper this thing at all my purpose is to test it well enough to use as my main D & G gun does anyone have yay's or nah's on this gun ? Cheap but seems to be reliable

The problem I had with this was the gas piston was set all the way down to light loads when I got it new. I ass-u-med it was set to factory settings and jacked up my recoil spring while doing the 100 round break in. I almost sold the gun when people on here convinced me to give it a chance. I changed the spring, shot the crap out of it (probably 600 rounds since this past June), and I have no issues. The only thing is the minimum the gun will cycle are 3 dram loads. 3 drams is the bare minimum; I could feel the bolt cycling slow down when changing from a stronger load to a 3 dram load. Brand new, my 153 left a little dimple on the primer, now it does not. Very soft shooting gun; I like it!

I have two of them. One for about 10 years. They rock. I would not trade it for any other semi out there as they fit me so well. There are many great guns but for the money they cant be beat IMO.

That's what I needed to hear fellas I needed a gun to not be scared to get dirty and scratch this season for duck and goose. I think for 200 I can manage to not get to broken up if I get a scratch on it! So now I am going to pattern this for the best shell combo and start cutting down some winged creatures! Best of luck to everyone this upcoming season! Urban bow starts in 5 days here and before you know it duck and goose will be here to :grooving:

I have a 153 that I bought this summer, has less than 50 rounds thru it, and it kicks out my 1 oz reloads about 5 feet. You can't go wrong for $341, NIB, comes with 4 extended steel rated choke tubes, ic,m,f,xf.. You can field strip including trigger group in less than 5 minutes.
Points good and is soft shooting., weighs 7.6 lbs

the full choke in the baikal has taken a liking to the 3" heavy shot BB i have been putting a 8" pattern at 10 yards and expands out to 14" at 20 yards with the closest density of shot in about a 10" circle and I don't know if thats a good thing or a great thing but IMO I thought it was good enough to put some bird feathers in my dogs mouth!!!

My wife just won one of these Sat. at a DU banquet. Sounds like reviews are pretty good for a cheap semi
I just pooped my pants.

You don't need to use super power loads to break it in. 1 1/8 Remington Heavy Dove loads worked for me.
