Took the neighbors boy squirrel hunting today (dad doesn't hunt) after he took and passed his hunters safety course and made all A's and B's. He got a 20ga for his birthday, and used it to harvest his first bushy tale....
I love seeing kids growing up hunting squirrels. Too often kids are brought up persuing game that is just a bit out of their league and patience. I grew up squirrel hunting and learned how to hunt them by myself. Anyone who has hunted the old "bushy-tail" knows that they can be just challenging enough to keep the youth interested. I myself used a single-shot shotgun, and was proud as a peacock when I'd bring my limit home. I personally believe "tree rat" taste better than duck. Way to mentor a kid Deepstep. He'll never forget that hunt for as long as he lives! Wings cupped, Pete
