decoying ducks vs. geese

Postby Threejs » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:43 pm

so i see all of these new goose decoys that look amazingly realistic. Are geese harder to decoy than ducks? I know how all conditions are different. I was wondering if on average geese are a little more fussy.

Thanks

I think geese can be incredibly difficult to decoy at times. This is where having a realistic spread (numbers help too) is very helpful. Granted, there is a difference between an opening day September goose (easy easy easy) and a battle-tested flock of February honkers. Flagging is a huge key to success in decoying geese for me and costs much less than a few dozen DSDs!

I have been using the Big Als silos. I have only hunted spots that most people talk about for years. there are geese just piling into them. So far they have cooperated very well. I guess i have no complaints about the way they are decoying but they are starting to get shot at a lot so we will see how it goes.
