Postby GooseHunter797 » Fri Sep 13, 2013 8:29 pm

PLEASE COMMENT!!.... 70% of my hunting is geese and the rest is duck, dove and I shoot alot of skeet... So I shoot all rages of shells... I want a gun that shoot 3 1/2s so what gun would u choose if money was no option and only had one gun to pick.... This is gonna be interesting!

THANK YOU!

(My ideas... Browning A5, sbe2, beretta a400, versamax ect.) PICK ONE!

Beretta A400, if I couldn't have that it would be the A300.

You can close this thread now, anything after this post is irrelevant in your search.

I have an A300 and shot a friend's A400 for a few months while I let him borrow a rifle of mine. The A400 is a sweet gun, I was impressed with it enough that I'm currently buy an A400 for myself and the A300 is going to the gun safe. I haven't shot the SBE but I can't imagine it is better than the A400.

All of these guns feel/shoulder incredibly differently. I've held all of the ones on your list. The Berettas' trigger location in relation to its pistol grip is waaay too short for me and extremely unnatural, for one example. I have a benelli m2, feels well for me, but the best thing you can do is try them.

I shoot the Beretta A400. My wife shoots the Benelli M2 American. After shooting both I would opt for the A400 every time. Being a gas gun the A400 recoil is far less. Pointability is great and the action cycles any shell I have used so far and I have gone down to 2 3/4 dram equivalent loads at 1145 ft. per sec. for sporting clays. The M2 would not cycle loads that light. With the provided shims the A400 stock can be adjusted to fit many different dimensional needs. The Benelli American series does not come with adjusting shims so, if it does not fit initially you would have to buy shims to adjust it. I also love the A400's Kick Off system. If people try to tell you that the Kick Off is a waste of money or doesn't really do much do not believe them! It really makes a difference throughout the days shooting. Especially at the clays ranges.

Ok well I narrowed it down the sbe2 American series and the a400... I personally put my guns through hell... I dropped my Nova in water below freezing that we had to break ice to get to... And 30 min later shot 2 mallards... I'm hearing that any bit of dirt or dust will make the beretta a400 not cycle... And also hearing that even when it's clean it cant cycle 3 1/2" loads... This would be a problem with me because I'm a big goose hunter, (I alrady shot half of a box of 3 1/2"s this early season)... Is ANY of this true? Help me out here!

And by the way thanks for the replies guy keep em coming!

look at the winchester sx3. The a400 is over rated and over priced their still might be some bugs to be worked out of it.
if you can read this your almost as smart as a dolphin.

If you look at the design of the Fabarms XLR 5 over these others , you would see which is the best low recoiling auto ?

The absolute best WATERFOWL GUN by far is the 3 1/2" camo Winchester SX 3.

When you say you shoot a lot of skeet, do you mean actual skeet? American Skeet? Or do you mean clay pigeons in general?

If you shoot the game of real skeet, then the only guns to consider are the Berettas. Any other gun mentioned so far will be sadly out-of-place on the skeet field. If you are shooting random clay pigeons, then get the most expensive shotgun you can afford.
Remember; you get what you pay for.

PS Next time you start a thread, please don't use all caps in the title.

If you want time proven performance, the 3.5" Beretta A400 is too new to qualify.

For 3.5" gas guns, the FNH made Browning/Winchester guns are the best.
For 3.5" inertia guns, the Benellis are the best. They also run cleaner, and kick harder than gas operated guns.

For 3.5" pumps, get your head examined.

The best one is the one that fits you best. Someone else's best may not shoot well for you at all.

Go to a gun shop and try them all out. :welcome:

The Beretta A400 Xtreme all the way! But if I had to choose another, the Browning Maxus is top notch also.
When times are tough and flocks are small, just take your time and kill them all.
