I hope to see a post about what they say! I would tell them that you won't be shopping there anymore just to see if you could walk out with some gear or gift cards!

I was in Cabelas tonight. I went in there for grass mats, they had none.

I did end up buying a dog bed though.

I decided to wait until I have replaced all the swivels I have already put on the lines so I can bring them all back. Gonna have to wait until after this weekend though as I will be teal hunting.

I fought with them over a shipping issue. All they did for me was give me free shipping and send me their catalogs.

They sent me a catalog that expired the week before. I called and complained, they gave me the overalls I wanted (that were already on sale) plus 60% off for the inconvenience, and free shipping. I paid $50 for a $300 purchase in the end.

I still don't get the Walmart hate. It's irrational.

The Cabelas of yesteryear is dead, that place is a dam toilet now. Most employees have no clue what in the hell they are selling, and quite a few lack any outdoor knowledge at all. 4 years ago in my area, they had one of the best waterfowl shows around, with lots of great seminars with a bunch of top names in the industry, a solid contest, and overall just a fun atmosphere. It will never be that again and its truly sad, I used to frequent the store and talk with guys who worked there about hunting and exchange thoughts and ideas. This year I got second in a calling contest and got a 75 dollar gift card, I couldnt even find anything to spend it on, sad state of affairs there IMO.

PS, I got in trouble for blowing a duck call on waterfowl weekend there this year.

Then it should be very simple to give me 4 reasons off the top of your head. 4 reasons that don't apply to every other retailer, or capitalism in general.

Here, you can just quote it and fill in the blanks:

1. ________________________________________
2. ________________________________________
3. ________________________________________
4. ________________________________________

Reasons to hate walmart.

1) they lied about selling American products.
2) they locked their employees in rhe store at night
3) they lied about falling prices
4) I got hit in the head by a falling pricetag at walmart. lol

1. They sell the same crap which is available from the "mom and pop" stores, or any other chain store, for that matter.
2. When I worked at Home Depot, I locked the employees and myself in the store every night during inventory times. Just teh way it works.
3. So do the mom and pops.
4. You should wear a helmet.

Here is one off the top of my head...
Mom and pop do not dictate pricing, wal-mart does. The tell the manufacturer how much wal-mart will pay to carry their product for sale. If the manufacturer does not want to sell it for that, then they don't get their product placed in wal-mart stores.

Wal-mart will not take products from a start up business. The business must be able to provide proof that they can deliver quotas and meet demands, this shuts start-ups out of a large fraction of the market.

Mom and pop will work with a local start up and help them out getting off the ground by placing the product in their store.

I got paid $22 an hour to load trucks.
They gave me great benefits even though I was part time...
Also I got an extra 10%-20% off anything I purchased

How is this a bad business model? Surely you aren't recommending that a company be forced to use a supplier who cannot meet their needs. It's just capitalism at work.

You asked for examples of how a mom and pop is different, I gave you two.

Wal-mart changed the way distribution operates by dictating pricing. Good or bad is up for debate, but the fact that it has happened is not.

No, I didn't. I asked how walmart is bad, not different.
