Every pre-season is full of hope for a good year. This year is no different. But I live in reality and from the spring hatches that I've seen it looks to be a down year again for large ducks. Small ducks seem to be holding their own. Geese seem to be stable.
One hope that I wish would happen would be to get a good week of rain the week before the season starts. 12-24 inches would be great. Last few years I've been kept out of my opening week spot because of not enough water. It's a pain to pole the boat within a 100 yards of your spot and not have enough water to get there and no fun walking in the gray muck.
One good thing this year is the season starts later the same time Ohio's season starts. Won't have to worry about the birds hopping across the line to hide. They'll be pushed right back.
