Bakila/ Rem Spartan MP310

Postby Fowlweather_13 » Wed Sep 25, 2013 8:13 am

I have just bought a new Remington spartan and I am wanting to use it for shooting ducks this year. Its holds Tru-Choke/Baikal chokes what is the best chokes for shooting pellet size BB,1,2 all of my shells are three inch varying speeds and weights loads. I have l the 5 factory chokes but I am wanting to get some after market chokes for waterfowl hunting. I want a choke that will hold a good pattern out to 50 yards.

Probably a non ported extended Mod or ImpMod. Get a Carlson choke and they will exchange until you get one you like. Ned S

Best advice I can give you is to take a box of every load in the various shot size, MV, and payload weights that you plan to use, then pattern each of the five chokes that came with your gun with every load at 30 yards, 40 yards, and 50 yards.
By the time you are done, you should have a good idea what choke(s) will give you the best patterns with what loads.

Nobody can tell you what the best choke for your loads and your gun might be. Only the pattern board can tell you.
If you feel you MUST have an aftermarket choke, Carlson's are as good as any and probably as cheap as any. There are a ton of other brands out there that may or may not give you better performance. As for me, my waterfowl guns that aren't wearing a factory choke are sporting Briley chokes.

I owned a Baikal and the Extended Mod from Carlsons fit the "out to 50 yd requirement". They were the only ones providing chokes at this time. Ned S

The load you shoot is generally more important than differences in choke brands of the same constriction. If you have a IM choke in your 5 factory chokes try that with Remington Nitro Steel or Win Drylock 1 1/4" #2 in 3" at about 1450. Pattern that at 50 yards and 40 yards and see what you think.
