Google alters their logo on the homepage all the time, to reflect holidays, famous anniversaries, the birthdays of famous artists, inventors, etc.

They call the adjusted logos doodles.

The doodle they were talking about was for google's 15th anniversary so it was an interactive game where you hit a piñata and the more candy you knocked out the higher your score was.
