I am headed from Chicago suburb to Horicon hunting solo from 10/2-10/6. I have pulling my trailer and freelancing. I have hunts to trade in Braidwood, IL (IL Central Duck closes 12/24 and IL Central Goose closes 1/31/14).
I have made several contacts in the Horicon area outside of the forum. I wish I was able to swap hunts or join someone during my travels who belonged to DHC. I am still looking for options, but I have been given permission to a private pond and private field from someone who told someone who told someone who then called me. Their pond/field are producing daily since opener as many you know that the GWT, BWT and Woodies are flooding the area. With this generous offer this proves there are still great waterfowlers that share our sport. I'm glad to be apart of it!
WI, I sincerely thank you for the hospitality this past weekend! I met a lot of great people and duckers. I believe this trip rectified my decision to purchase my second home in the Cheeseland. It's been a strong debate between MI or WI. To those I made contact with and met personally, a pleasure it was. I will be back to Horicon again before the season ends. :clapping:
litterally seen 2-3k geese on sunday. migrating flocks, it was constant 25-50 bird flocks and we could see several off in the distance as well
