Montgomery Ward/ O.F Mossberg and Sons

I own a bolt-action .410 gauge and can't seem to find a serial number on it.
Model 183D-C

To Identify it I'm planning on scratching some numbers on the inside of the Magazine cover plate.
If you know where the numbers are...you could save me from doing something silly to a nice firearm.

Under that plate on its backside seems like "the spot".

Don't see how you could reduce the value of that gun no matter where you welded on some numbers.

Wherever it's easiest for ya'.

Having the first shotgun you ever shot has a value beyond price.

I love .410's  Your model 183 d-c was made from 1953 to 1956 and were manufactured with out serial numbers as far as I can tell. and YES it's priceless in my book.

Thanks. I looked hard. I'm keeping it for my grandson's first shots.
Then he gets a 1148 Remi 410 semiauto.
Then he gets the Winchester model 1893 16 gauge.
Then he can have my 12 gauge wingmasters.
Logan is a lucky little boy.
