Hi guys how are you all doing? I joined the site to ask some questions and learn about where to go duck hunting since meade is closed due to the furlough.

First question is has any one hunted a Chicamuxen WMA if so is it any good? Is it open Columbus day? Next I see on Maryland DNR website I need the following Trapping and waterfowl hunting is by permit only. What are they looking for? If anyone has any recommendation on another spot that may be better that would be great too. I do not have a boat but I do have two dogs. Thanks for any help or advice you are able to provide.

Have not hunted it but start here to apply for the Southern Region permit.

Majority of the Southern MD blinds are reservation only. Some are only on certain days. A few are first come first serve. Most need boats to get to. All need permits. Cant just show up and hunt it.

Did anyone get to the river today? Still trying to figure out the guage. From the Legion Bridge it still looked very high but couldn't tell how much it's gone down since Saturday.

Had a decent start to the year four wood ducks and a goose. I hope it gets cold early that would be wonderful.

Couple buddies went up to their property near the finger lakes in NY last weekend. They tore em up and said theres tons of birds in NY already and its cold up there. 56 birds in 2 days(ducks and geese) Should be coming down before too long. Im getting the bay rigs ready, I hear scoters are starting to get down there in slowly increasing numbers
