What a way to finish out a limit of Woodys!

Postby Bunker » Thu Oct 03, 2013 8:55 pm

Luckily I've gotten to hunt the 1st 3 mornings of the season without work getting in the way. Unfortunately that had to come to an end after this mornings hunt. Apparently somebody wants to put Fordham Univ. football on TV...Not me mind you but somebody! It was an awesome end to a 3 Woody limit with my first banded woody and very pretty one at that. Unfortunately due to government shutdown the reportband.gov website is shut down so I'll have to wait to get any info on the bird. I haven't seen the normal opener type threads except for that of the North Zone. How is the South doing? All I've seen are birds that go Wheek or Honk(at a great distance) no Quacks or other ducky type noises and I sure hope that changes soon!

Very cool! Congrats. Pretty shiny. It will be interesting to get the history on it.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing about the sheen of it. The bird looks to be older as compared to the other or the others I've shot the previous 2 days my guess is it was tagged either this year or last and would be very surprised if it were any more than that. I don't know maybe he polishes it regularly... Will have to wait til the politicians can get their heads outta their arses and start this thing back up!

That's awesome. :grooving: There must be something to an east - west migration of some wood ducks, because about 7 years ago I went hunting in Illinois around Christmas and the guy that took me had recently shot a wood duck which was banded in Maine 3 months earlier!

Lots of banded birds this year
Preserve game, use a well trained retriever.
