Benelli M2 cycling issue

Postby beretta24 » Mon Oct 07, 2013 10:36 pm

Maybe I need a new spring, but after several cases of shells my M2 started having issues cycling the third round. I would estimate I've put 6 cases or so through it in the last 5 years. The 3rd shell ends up somewhat still in the mag and jammed against the carrier. It happened for the first time this weekend, and about 5 times in 30 rounds or so. I have never had any issues until now beyond it not cycling once a couple years ago in cold weather, but it was oiled too heavy then.

For what its worth I have been shooting 3" 1 1/8 oz loads.

Any thoughts?

Wolff sells a 25% extra power recoil spring and an extra power magazine spring, I have both in my M2 and have never had an issue with feeding or jamming. Make sure that the magazine tube is clean a lot of crud gets in there.

Does the recoil spring affect performance on light game or trap loads?

I would also suggest the +25% Wolf recoil spring. I however, do not use the extra strength magazine tube. With this set up I have not had issues. I wouldn't hesitate to use the stronger recoil spring with light loads.

Hi Beretta 24

looks like you need to clean your magazine tube , as it collects large amount of residue inside it , a piece of which might be stuck at a location than makes it difficult for the magazine follower to pass & it gets stuck there .

It has nothing to do with the spring , besides , as njonesy said , a strong magazine spring is not needed , it just makes it harder to load the magazine & increases pressure on the magazine cap.

the magazine disassembly & cleaning will solve this problem .

Best wishes .

i think after 5000 rnd count is when you should think about a new recoil spring.
if you can read this your almost as smart as a dolphin.
