Columbia Bottoms Conservation Area

Postby Scotty64 » Tue Oct 08, 2013 10:40 am

Good Morning All,
Can someone that has hunted Columbia Bottoms answer some questions for me please. I was drawn in for opening day at Columbia Bottoms. I realize that we select a pill just like at Eagle Bluff and you select your spot. Here is my question; do you need a boat to hunt Columbia Bottoms or is it wade in hunting? I have a duck boat with a blind but no layout boat. Thanks for any advise that everyone can give to me. :help:

I live 15 minutes from there and have hunted it many times. No boat needed. It is all wade in. There is 1 blind and it is the handicap blind. Pretty sparse out there this year. They had a lot of flood water this year. Stay till 1. Some of the best shooting I have had there is between 11:30 and 1. It is a hit and miss area. Best days are around fronts obviously. Give the area a call. Talk to Andy, he will point you in the right direction.

mj is right, all of the spots are wadeable. There are a few pools that I have used a boat on before in the past and it has worked out well, but generally you will not need one. Good Luck!
