KAO Dixie Mendenhall 2000-2013

Postby DuckMendenhall » Tue Oct 15, 2013 11:26 am

Today my heart is heavy for the loss of my first self trained Lab. Many of days in the field jumping in the icey water for a dang bird. She never once looked back and retrieved with no hesitation. Always waiting for the call. Dixie will be sorely missed this season and everyone after that, as I reflect on the glory days of skipping class to chase ducks. I pray that she is running free over the Rainbow Bridge and awaits my call when I have the opportunity to meet her again.

She retired Dec 11, 2011 after roughly 3000 birds under her belt. Final hunt pic below. This hunt will always be one of my favorites, and will pull hard at the heart strings.

always tough losing a friend. The most reliable hunting partner you will ever have, and there is something to be said about the bond. Very few things can bring tears to most mens eyes but that is one of them for sure. Looks like a great pic from a great last hunt.
