.410 Shotgun recommendation

Postby TidalVA » Thu Oct 17, 2013 4:48 pm

Gents,

Looking for a .410 as a long term heirloom. Don't need a $2K gun, but want to get my wife shooting, want to have something for sporty days, want to have something my kids can one day shoot.

What is the ultimate .410?

Thanks in advance from a Virginia marsh and timber hunter.

I go with a Remington 1100 .410 I've had one for years and love it.

I second the Remington 1100, sweet shooting and the choke tubes make it even better then before.

I'd take a look at the Weatherby SA-08 in 28 gauge.
Yes, it's made in Turkey, but WELL MADE in Turkey to Weatherby specs and tolerances. At least that is what I'VE read.
It looks like a real 'shooter' and the 28 gauge has far superior--ballistics--to the .410 caliber.

1100 is a great choice,but I wouldn't rule out a 870 Wingmaster or a Browning BPS.
Life is to short to hunt with a ugly gun.

I have a Browning bps. Great gun, no issues. It will last more than a lifetime or two.

I started out shooting dads new england 410, it was a single shot but it was a tough little gun.
