dog ramps for boats

Postby fowl mouth » Sun Oct 20, 2013 1:55 pm

Interested to see what you guys use for ramps that are NOT store-bought. I am wanting to make a ramp for my dog to get in the boat without having to help him in. :help:

Stopped by TailFeathers house the other week. He had a great dog ramp he had made on his boat. The ramp double folded on his boat’s deck.

Thanks for bringing up a subject that will be covered at the 2014 Virginia Waterfowling Workshop.

Push on the top of their head, they'll use your hand for leverage. Don't pull by the collar or you may fall backwards when the collar slips off haha

The more room I have in my boat the better.

VAHunyer25726783673672, that is the trick I used with my black lab and she was good at getting back in the boat without any problem. I now have a semi mentally challenged golden retriever...not quite as graceful as the lab. It is a train wreck getting her in the boat. Some dogs get it and some dont. I sure do miss the lab and you are correct about the collar slipping thing. Fell a few times on that one.
Cheers

interesting to see if you could mimic this with the folding up scenario. space saver for sure. good luck :grooving:
