DNR waterfowl counts

Postby Greenheadindy » Wed Oct 23, 2013 1:21 pm

Anyone else follow these and notice the pathetic numbers (or total lack of report) for the central and south zones? I watch them and goose pond is only reporting 88 wood ducks, whereas on the last count they were at like 4,000. I don't know that I believe that, as several north zone properties are still reporting good numbers. At any rate, I will be out this weekend, hoping there's still birds in my spot (somewhat close to goose pond). The spot I'm hunting is usually packed with woodies and teal, so I'm hoping they're still around. Good luck to everyone this weekend!

Those counts are joke. I know for one property the guy told he stands at the refuge and tries to guess how many he sees fly out.

Plus those numbers can be 7 days old before they post them.

You boys down south better be ready for ducks because they are pushing out around me and moving down (woodies) saw a good raft of ringnecks show up last night. Its starting boys just hold on!
