Picture from last weekend

Thought I would share this pic from last weekend (screenshot of a video, so it is not the best).

Nice shot of an eider over the decoys with the sunrise. Dropped the eider about a half a second after the picture.

Nice photo. Good looking strings of decoys.

Did you make your own decoys or buy them?

Thanks

The eiders were bought and the scoters are painted mallard decoys. Seem to work fine though!

I went the mallard route, too. Bought four dozen Hot Buys, sprayed them flat black and added color to wings, heads and bills with a brush using sample jars of paint. Waaay cheaper and they work just fine. Plus, its fun making things to use hunting.

Yup, same here... most went flat black and then orange on the bill... some went to white wings... but I think the extra work is just for our satisfaction..haha. I think as long as it is black and floats there, the scoters like it.

Have you been sea ducking any more? Any luck?

Nope. Haven't been since last Saturday. Haven't had much free time this fall. I took on too much work (carpentry) and am having a heck of a time keeping up. Thought I'd be caught up by the end of this month... now I'm just hoping to catch up before the late inland season opens. But, beats having no work...
