Arkansas,Missouri,Tennessee, Mississippi....

Postby firefighter4231 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 12:46 pm

I wanted to see if anyone on here has gone south for hunts? From the looks it of on different threads, people have been out to SD and ND a bunch. I have been kicking around the idea of making a run south later this winter for some more duck action.

I have hunted in Louisiana when I was still in the Army, however I didnt get out as much as I would have liked too., plus that was 9 years ago.

Any one have any places/areas they have hunted and had success? I am not looking for specific spots just general areas of to look at?

Thanks for the help!

Had some good late season hunts in NW Tennessee! The bottoms and fields can be great around Reelfoot Lake although the lake itself is quite the zoo!

I would take Texas any day!

Next year we are kicking around a December duck and hog hunt.....

I have a family friend that lives in Rowlet....he invited me down to Texas for the first week in December for duck hunting. Unforunately I don't think I can make it work this year.

TX GETS MY VOTE. Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana have been good too. We have it good up here when it comes to public land though.

TX gets my vote because I have a couple buddies I visit every year.

Nebraska is a lot of fun with little competition and some great hunting in the right areas. Illinois is fun also. Missouri is great but land is tough to come by. Arkansas is fun but takes a couple years to learn the areas you hunt. Had a blast in Louisiana but it was on private ground not sure about public stuff. I've hunted quite a few states and it really all depends on what you are looking for and what type of hunting you want to do. I am hoping to hunt Mexico or Canada next year only hurdle is going to be convincing the wife. Good luck. Choosing a destination is half the fun.
