Winchester SX2 vs SX3?

Postby Honk-n-quack » Sun Oct 27, 2013 10:32 am

Hi all, I had a couple questions regarding these shotguns. I know where I can get a used but good condition Winchester SX2 for $350 or a lightly used SX3 for $750. What is the difference between these shotguns, and is the Super X3 worth 2x more than the Super X2? Also would these shotguns be an upgrade over a Remington Spartan 453 or would there not be much difference regarding performance and recoil wise?

SX2 versus SX3= No comparison

Pick both guns up and put them to your shoulder, If you can not tell the difference then save yourself some $$ and buy the SX2

For me the SX2 feels like a club in my hands when compared to the SX3.

Wouldnt a heavier gun swing and reduce recoil better than a lighter gun?

SX 2 is heavier than the SX 3 by about one pound. Much of that is in the barrel. If you hunt from a blind or boat and don't carry the gun much the heavier gun will recoil less with heavy loads and swing better on passing shots. The SX3 is quicker handling and kicks harder. They are both great guns, pick the one that FITS you and your needs best.

Both are better than the Rusky gun.

BTW, the SX2 is a steal at $350.

I have not shot an sx2, but I really like my sx3. For $350, I'd be all over that sx2 like a fat kid on cake! Haha

An upgrade?? Well, yes.

The Spartan is not a Remington. It is imported very cheaply from Russia by Remington. I believe it is a Baikal.[/quote]
If money is tight, the SX2 will give you good service. If you can afford the extra couple hundred, get the SX3.

The difference between the X2 and X3 is superficial. Buy the X2 it's the better gun. Less recoil and better built.

Shot the super x 2 for a couple seasons. Loved it, hardly ever jammed unless shooting skeet loads while the gun wasn't completely clean. It just felt right when you pulled it up.

If the two guns were in equal condition I'd snatch up that X2, especially if its a later model with the invector plus tubes.

The SX2 has always had the invector plus tubes.......... at the price you are mentioning, that gun is a value

I could be totally off track, but didn't the early ones have the standard Invector tubes, not invector plus?

I have a Super X2 3.1/2in 26in bbl that was purchased in 99. I also have a SX3 3in 28in bbl purchased in 2011. Both guns have the  invector plus chokes. Dont think this settles it, but atleast sheds some light.

Got my X2 15 years ago and it did come with invector plus choke tubes. My favorite gun of all time. Mine did breake once after 12 years and a few thousand rounds. Proubably 16,000 thousand rounds of 3" & 3.5" rounds. The sheel catch spring wore out and it did not allow a secound shell to feed from the magazine. Best grip of any shotgun I have used. The gun slims down at the back of the receiver for a thinner grip that most autos dont have. Makes shooting with gloves eaiser. Handling the gun with slippery alkaline mud on your hands is also safer.
