Sea ducks....

Postby irons » Mon Oct 28, 2013 12:34 pm

Are they in yet? I know it's been a little warm up until this week but the few times I've been out fishing I haven't seen a darn thing. Anyone else? Scoter were just getting in to LI a week or two ago so they can't be to far out.... Thanks

My friends had lots of action two weekends ago off NJ, but last weekend no birds a couple of miles out to speak of except N. Gannets. Sightings reported by bird watchers are increasing but the warm weather, warming weather, is not a plus.

Some surf scoters off Hammonasset, Napatree Pt. and Pt. Judith reported. More off S. LI beaches.... Cape Cod is apparently already loaded, even with some eiders.

Last weekend ran into a raft of Old Squaws off Niantic, been seeing plenty of scoter for weeks now.
Thousands on the boat.
Hundreds on decoys.
Time away from the wife....priceless
