I have a bunch of older style water keel Flambeau decoys that have a crack where the front of the keel connects to decoy body. Some have a crack at the back of keel where it connects to decoy body. I guess this is a stress point for this style of decoy. The cracks are only about 3/4 to 1 inch. I hate to throw away these decoys. I have used various things such as silicone, hot glue and fiberglass glue to patch the holes but nothing seems to last long at this stress point on these decoys. Has anybody had any luck permanently repairing these decoys other than filling with expanding Styrofoam ?
Like Rick said, 3m 5200 might work.
Try plastic repair made by 3m or SEM. We use "SEM plastic problem repair" to fix bumpers on cars so I assume it would work for a decoy.
Also make sure your cleaning the area with acetone, thinner or alcohol and then sand the area good before you apply anything or it will just peel off with time
That 5200 is some good stuff, however tried it on the Flambeaus and decided to burn the lot. I could not get it to work consistently.
